After a successful last two years, with events attended by hundreds of students and academics, the MRN team is expanding into its next phase. We’re looking to widen the repertoire of our activities and reach a bigger audience through a number of new roles. This is your opportunity to join our team and help grow the MRN community!

Open Vacancies

Design Officer

The design officer will be responsible for all creative aspects of MRN’s outputs and marketing. The primary roles that this will entail are creating event posters and editing videos for promotion of events and podcasts. There is also scope to collaborate with the research officer to create infographics on the current status of Muslim participation in academia. The officer is expected to have some experience in design software (e.g. Photoshop). This role will require close collaboration with the media officer and media subteam, in order to design based on their needs and to have produced media distributed across MRN social media.
Responsibilities:


  1. Creating content (e.g. promotional videos, posters).
  2. Editing and adding graphic design to content (videos/podcasts/conference videos).
  3. Liaising with media team for design spec and for distribution.
Time commitment: 30 mins per week + 1 hour meeting every 2 weeks.

Regional Representatives

Regional representatives will be the face of MRN in their respective areas of the UK, maintaining ties with local university communities and acting as their first point of contact. The role will involve prompting and assisting in the organisation of collaborative events between MRN and university ISOCs; the scope of these events is guided by the MRN team with flexibility to arrange different types of events.
Responsibilities:

  1. Establishing and maintaining contact with ISOCs/universities within region.
  2. ​Promoting MRN events/activities (including mentorship) within local network
  3. Arranging local events such as research symposia, PhD insight days, etc.
  4. ​Liaise with engagement officer and keep contact with other regional representatives
Time commitment: 30 mins per week + 1 hour meeting every 2 weeks.
