On the 7th of March 2021, the Oxford University Islamic Society in collaboration with the Muslim Researchers' Network put together a comprehensive event for undergraduate and master's students looking to apply for a PhD.

In part 1 of this event, Imran Naved (Engineering), Hibba Mazhary (Geography) and Hira Javaid (Oncology) joined us to discuss the decision-making process whilst applying for a PhD. Such as "Is doing a PhD right for me", "what are the pros and cons of doing a PhD", "how do I choose the right programme/supervisor/project", "what are the funding options available?"
How to make your application stand out
In part 2 of this event, Dr Usaama al-Azami (Islamic Studies), Dr Muhammad Meki (Economics) and Dr Mohamady El-Gaby (Neuroscience) joined us to discuss how to make a good impression while contacting a supervisor, how to stand out during interviews, how to write a personal statement/research proposal.
