After a successful conference last year, with more than 150 students and academics in attendance, the Oxford Muslim Research Conference (OMRC) is back, taking place on Saturday, 23rd October 2021.
OMRC aims to attract Muslim students and academics from all over the UK. This year’s theme is “Navigating Academic Disagreement as Muslims”. In addition to research presentations by academics and graduate students, the conference will also feature a keynote talk by Dr Yasir Qadhi, Dean of The Islamic Seminary of America . The conference will also feature dedicated workshops and discussion sessions, led by experienced academics, to provide insights into research in different disciplines. Throughout the day, a poster exhibition will be on display to showcase a variety of work by students at all stages of their career. Additionally, tea breaks will serve as opportunities for networking and exchange between attendants.

The event is open to all, with standard tickets costing £25 and undergraduate tickets available at £17.50. This includes a halal lunch and refreshments throughout the day. To register, please sign up below!

- How to communicate your research: an interactive workshop in which you will learn how to break down your research into simple, accessible descriptions. We will explore how to effectively share your research with a variety of audiences - from review panels to your grandma!
- Navigating obstacles in academia: an interactive workshop that explores the various challenging case scenarios academics may face in research. We aim to expand on tips and methods, inspired by islamic etiquette on disagreement ('adabul ikhtilaf'), on how to tackle such situations!

OMRC 2021: LIVE STREAM ACCESS NOW AVAILABLE!
After significant international interest in the Oxford Muslim Research Conference 2021, we are now offering live-stream access to those unable to attend in-person. Your access will include the full range of Research Presentations, the Panel Debate on Artificial Intelligence and the lecture from our keynote speaker Dr Yasir Qadhi. You will also have access to the ‘Communicating your Research’ workshop and will be able to interact with the conference virtually by sending in your questions. Furthermore, you will receive booklets including the poster presentations to engage with the wide range of academic research Muslims across the UK are conducting.
Live-stream access will be given through an online platform, such as Zoom. To offer this feature we will require a minimum number of sign-ups. If this number is not reached, all live stream ticket holders will be notified and fully refunded.

1) Will the event be onsite? Yes the conference is primarily onsite at the University of Oxford and designed to encourage discussion and collaboration at an intimate level. There is a live streaming option for those unable to attend online
2) Where will the conference by held? The conference will be held at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford on the 23rd of October 2021. Further details including directions to the venue will be provided to registered attendees
3) Can I cancel my ticket? Unfortunately, we are not able to offer any ticket cancellations at this late stage.
